KKG Holiday Resort is manned by the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training SriLanka. There are several approaches to Kukuleganga, however the route via Kalutara is considered as the main approach to this location. Being located in the environs of the Sinharaja natural reserve, it has a cool climatic effect with lush green Tea and Rubber estates surrounding the complex. The location being away from the hustle and bustle is ideal for relaxation.
This area belongs to the wet zone in Sri Lanka. It is warm and short rain showers are refreshing. It enjoys a superb climate with no high temperature and prolonged droughts. Temperatures during a whole year are between 24 C and 32 C. Perhaps it is so fascinating in the morning that it looks like an Italian mountainous village when wrapped by a silky blanket of mist. Drizzling and slight rainfall prevailing on the peaks of mountains are a natural occurrence, thus converting this side of Sri Lanka into a superb area for a life in relaxation.
PAHIYANGALA ROCK CAVE TEMPLE :
This is a place of paramount importance with regard to the evolution and civilization of mankind. It is only an 8 km drive via molkawa – or 27 km via Agalawatta. If you wish to drive via Molkawa being the shortest cut , it is much interesting for you get a memorable ride in a calm and quiet country side environ across the Kukuleganga new bridge .
The Pahiyangala natural cave in its massive solid Rock is said to be the biggest of its kind and nature in the whole of Asia. It has been confirmed by carbon Techniques that Homosaphian, the most ancient Human being of Sri Lanka during the pre-historic Stone age before thirty thousand years now, lived in this cave and had left sufficient evidences like skeletons, skulls, utensils and shells of consumed organism during his dwelling which are preserved at the same place.

This solid rock is about 650 feet in height. The cave within is 175 feet wide and 150 feet in height, and also quite sufficient and large enough for one thousand people to sit at a time.
KUKULEGANGA HYDRO - POWER PROJECT :
It is only a 15 minutes' drive from this resort to the face of the under ground Hydro-Power Station via Molkawa. You may drive along a superbly constructed tarried Road. This giant project has proved to be the latest Hydro Power generating project in Sri Lanka with advanced technology introduced by world renounced engineering experts like Skanska.
The two turbines generate 85 mg watts a day with a targeted capacity of 317 gg hours to the national strength which is 5% of the countries' consumption. The constructions and installations have been completed in three and half years.
The water runs through a massive rock tunnel for 8 k.m. from the reservoir before it mingles with the turbines of which the installations have been executed within the great rock itself. Hence it has achieved the title of second under ground Hydro - Power Project in SriLanka. The dam of the reservoir is constructed adhering to "Run Of River" system where the water level is raised up to a height of two meters and maintain it static at the start of the great tunnel. The water level is scientifically speculated at the required level as the annual rainfall in the area is stagnant at about 37.5 cm
The power, thus generated is transmitted to the national out put at Matugama Sub Station which is located about 21 k.m away from the Holiday Resort. Fifteen billion SriLankan Rupees is said to have been injected in to this mammoth asset.

Certainly Yes. This is a place of paramount importance and great value for locals as well as foreigners. Named after a huge rock of a lion's shape, Singharaja is the biggest and thickest natural forest in Sri Lankan Wet Zone.
It has three door ways and most convenient, safe and nearest to the resort is Weddagla door way via Kalawana. It is only an hour's distance from the Holiday Resort in your vehicle, which would be lucky to travel along a widened and tarried road across jungles with high Canopy. This is yet another important spot to see a few meters ahead of the massive and famous "Dun Tree". When road construction was at a very primitive stage in the era of First World War people thought this to be a miracle in road and bridge building techniques. This narrow bridge has been constructed joining cliffs of two large rocks with no pillars between to facilitate the movement of friendly troops in the First World War. Thanks to their technology the bridge is still in its excellent conditions. This is a live relic of the past for it is a miraculous masterpiece when the primitive technology of road building existed with no modern equipments used. If you peep over the stone culvert you may be lucky to have a glimpse of a beautiful and dark depth.
KALUGALA MONASTERY :
By Monastery, we mean a sacred Hermitage in a forest inhabited by highly disciplined Buddhist Monks whose lives have been entirely dedicated to the religious compliance. Kalugala , being one among them is situated in a passable forest peak about 15 km away from here in a mountainous environment. One has to climb a little distance on cemented steps in an attractive set up which attraction automatically diverts into a devotious nature at the first entrance. In fact, the Palanda Raja Maha Viharaya situated on the banks of river Palanda merely a distance of 3 km consuming 20 minutes in a car is very highly and piously regarded as it dates back to the era of monarch Weediya Bandara, the Great Warrior Sinhala Regal. GEMMING :
Gemming is a very popular, freelance and rural industry in this locality as precious stones of various species such as cat's eye and sapphire worth lacks and millions of Rupees are being found in pits. Licensed and unlicensed gem pits are freely seen in the meadows and moors where villagers dig them very systematically and collectively. Although one does not require a big capital to invest in digging a pit out, gems thus found worth million of Rupees are distributed equally among partner - villagers. Sri Lankan gems fetch a very good and high demand in the markets of Japan and Europe.
TEA :
World famous Sri Lankan Tea is the first grade foreign exchange earner towards Island's economy. RUBER RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF CEYLON.( R.R.I.C. ) :
Agalawatta in which constituency, our resort has been situated is very famous for Rubber cultivation. Head Quarters of Rubber Research Institute of Ceylon has been established here to extend more research work in the cultivation. It is estimated that one third of the rural folk derive their bread from this industry. RRIC established in 1909 in Agalawatta by an enthusiastic group of British subjects to promote the research and experiments in the rubber cultivation and its allied products is the first of its kind in the whole world. It contributes a great deal towards its goal. The modified factory, the Laboratory and the building complex are still in colonial and majestic appearance.
WOODEN MASKS CARVING VILLAGE :
Lathpadura, a hamlet, very close to the resort is fortunate to be recognized as the center of very beautiful wooden masks industry. There are industrial villages, which are completely confined and dedicated to this trade here. Very beautiful masks of variety are turned out by these craftsmen daily to meet the demand made by city-tourists-centers. They are very well skilled, originative, aesthetic and also descendants from their forefathers of the same trade. If you visit these villages you may see them carving and turning out these masterpieces manually and very cleverly with no modern tools used.
CANE BRIDGE:
This lengthy, rocking, nodding and cradle like cane bridge is newly erected across Kukuleganga at a distance of 10 minutes drive from here and also very popular among city-guests for its splendid structure .
